“CIS has definitely been so helpful. If you need something, they will get it for you, and, if they don’t have it, they will find it. All the site coordinators I’ve known have been full of kindness, and, through them, I have learned lifelong lessons.” -Tara
Alyssa is a graduating senior who found a mentor in Site Coordinator Ali Jennings from Communities In Schools® of Catoosa County in Georgia who helped her overcome obstacles to succeed at school and graduate early. Here’s Alyssa’s story in her own words.
“Communities In Schools helped us out with a lot of stuff. It is not just that they helped with physical stuff, but they helped with emotional things also. I don't know if they realize how much they helped with my anxiety through the years.”
“I am proud of where I am today. I had some hard times throughout the last few years and struggled with many different issues, but today I am stronger... I am excited for the future and whatever is coming after high school because I know that I can handle it and I know that I can move forward and be successful." -Luna.
“I no longer settle when it comes to my future. I want to impact lives by being a servant to my community. Protecting and providing a form of comfort to communities is vital for the success of young people. I will fulfill this by becoming an attorney for the people.” -Ca’Miyah
“Communities In Schools has helped my grandmother and me with basic needs. They have helped me reach graduation and feel better about myself. CIS is nurturing, and they mean to me like friends and family.” -Stevie
“In a time where I was unmotivated, felt isolated, and alone, Ms. Estrada taught me that I can trust others and that I can trust myself. Having her around to listen to me, encourage me, and teach me new skills helped me to become a better and healthier person. I know that I can do great things in the future and I can follow my dreams.” -Jaylin
“A crucial lesson I learned from Mr. Primer was to look forward and move forward. Don’t let temporary road bumps stop you from looking forward to a brighter future.” -Serenity
