Communities In Schools Among Best Nonprofits To Work For In 2017

Communities In Schools national office, the organization committed to empowering at-risk students to stay in school, was ranked amongst the top five on “The Power of Purpose: The Best Nonprofits to Work For in 2017 list by, the highest-traffic job website in the United States. Top-rated reviews from employees from Communities In Schools ranked the organization at No. 5 overall.

According to CIS employees on Indeed’s 15 million strong company reviews database, “management understands the hardships of working with at-risk populations, and encourages self-care as much as quality services”, says one employee review. “Working one-on-one and building these trusting relationships is what makes this job incredibly worth it. These students love, trust and enjoy CIS and what it offers! They look for the support, they look for the encouragement but mostly they look for someone away from home, whom they can turn to, love and speak to on a personal trusting level”, says another employee review.

This marks the first year that CIS National has been included on Indeed’s Best Nonprofits to Work For in 2017 list after being highly rated on overall employee experience. To be considered, the organization had at least 50 reviews from August 2015 – July 2017 on the following criteria:

  • Job security/advancement
  • Management
  • Culture

Notably, Communities In Schools was ranked No. 2 overall on the 2017 national list of theBest Nonprofits to Work For”  by The NonProfit Times (NPT).  These acknowledgments of Communities In Schools being a best nonprofit to work for correlates to the organization’s 40-year anniversary.
