All In for Students 2017 National Impact Report

The Impact Report chronicles the barriers faced by 14.5 million children in the U.S. who are living in poverty and highlights the success CIS has achieved over the last 40-years by keeping more students in schools, on a path to graduation and to success in life.

When Communities In Schools (CIS) was founded 40 years ago it served nearly 3,000 students, helping those who faced poverty-related obstacles make it to high school graduation. Today, the nation’s largest and most effective dropout prevention organization serves nearly 1.5 million students, partnering with schools to even the playing field for all students.

Key findings among our case-managed students include:

  • 99 percent stayed in school
  • 80 percent improved attendance
  • 88 percent improved their academics
  • 91 percent graduated or received a GED
  • 93 percent were promoted to the next grade

The Impact Report also highlights the 2017 All In for Students Awards recipients, which includes educators, CIS staffers and alumni who have demonstrated the effectiveness of CIS and made a difference in their communities.
