Communities In Schools of the South Plains
Family Engagement

All In For Students Recipient 2013: The award is presented to site coordinators who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to students. With acts of love and transformation, these Heroes are the best at what they do.

Vigil takes Communities In Schools’ mission to create a community of support to the next level, serving not only the students of Shallowater Elementary School but their parents as well. Vigil started an English Language Learner group for parents who struggled with the language, making it difficult for them to connect with school personnel and for their children to achieve. Vigil also has worked to raise the collective self-esteem and self-worth of her female students, developing a Spirit Squad that gained the confidence to perform during a middle school talent show.
