Communities In Schools and Harris Teeter Celebrate “Together in Education” Campaign, Raising More Than $300,000 for Students and Schools

Communities In Schools® (CIS®), the nation’s leading provider of K-12 school-based integrated student supports, and Harris Teeter are celebrating the success of the “Together in Education” Round Up Campaign, which raised over $300,000 to support CIS National and 12 affiliates across the Southeast region.
The campaign benefited Communities In Schools, Classroom Central, The Salvation Army and Alliance for a Healthier Generation. From July 30 through Oct. 28, 2025, Harris Teeter customers contributed to the effort by rounding up their transactions to the nearest whole dollar at checkout at stores nationwide.
To commemorate the campaign’s impact and success, CIS and Harris Teeter will host a celebratory event and check presentation on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Bruns Avenue Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event will bring together students, educators, community leaders and corporate partners to highlight the power of community-driven support in education.

Leaders in attendance will include Rey Saldaña, President and CEO of Communities In Schools National and Men Tchaas Ari, President and CEO of CIS of Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Representatives from Harris Teeter, along with CIS staff, site coordinators and students will also participate.
The event will feature a formal check presentation, a school site visit and opportunities to engage with students and CIS leaders. Attendees will gain an inside look at how CIS site coordinators work directly within schools to remove barriers and connect students with the relationships and resources they need to succeed.
Funds raised will help expand CIS’ evidence-based model of integrated student supports, which connects students to caring adults and critical resources both inside and outside the classroom.
Through partnerships like Harris Teeter, CIS continues to scale its impact nationwide. When Communities In Schools is present, 99 percent of students stay in school, 97 percent are promoted to the next grade and 96 percent graduate or earn a GED.
