Communities In Schools Among Finalists in PR Daily’s 2025 Nonprofit Communications Awards for ‘Being Present Matters’ Campaign

July 29, 2025

Communities In Schools® (CIS®), the nation’s leading provider of K-12 school-based integrated student supports, has been named a finalist in PR Daily’s 2025 Nonprofit Communications Awards in the Advocacy or Awareness Campaign category for its Being Present Matters campaign.

Being Present Matters highlights the nationwide epidemic of chronic absenteeism and underscores CIS’ compelling mission: trained site coordinators who connect students to the essential supports they need (food, mental health, tutoring, transportation, etc.), ensuring they show up prepared and ready to learn.

"We are truly honored by this recognition, but the real credit belongs to our site coordinators and students," said Jack Hardy, CIS National Director of Marketing. "Being Present Matters shines a light on their dedication and resilience, and we are grateful to share their stories with the world."

Since launching in August 2024, the campaign has spotlighted CIS site coordinators as local heroes and uplifted student voices through videos, social media content, and partnership activations, including the “Present for Student Success” event with Whataburger in Las Vegas, and has driven meaningful conversations across communities.

Impact metrics from the 2022–23 school year include 99 percent of CIS-supported students showing up prepared and ready to learn, nearly all staying in school through year-end as well as high rates of grade promotion and graduation.

Communities In Schools and other finalists will be celebrated at an awards luncheon on September 26, 2025, at the Yale Club in New York City, where winners will be announced live. Learn more and view all of the finalists here.
