Communities In Schools® (CIS®) announced support from TD Charitable Foundation to improve academic outcomes for young learners across Pennsylvania and North Carolina. A generous $100,000 grant from TD Charitable Foundation will expand CIS’ proven model which helps elementary students stay on track and achieve grade-level success.
The funding will be directed to CIS of Cape Fear (NC) and CIS of Eastern Pennsylvania, supporting programs at 10 elementary schools and benefiting nearly 4,000 students, including more than 225 who will receive direct academic support.
At Communities In Schools, we believe every student deserves a level playing field, starting from the earliest grades. We’re excited to realize the impact of TD Charitable Foundation's funding, which will play a critical part in helping children build confidence, stay engaged and achieve their potential.
-Rey Saldaña, President and CEO, Communities In Schools National Office
CIS’ approach places trained site coordinators inside schools to work with educators, students and families. These coordinators identify students’ needs and connect them with tailored resources, including tutoring, mentoring, basic necessities and family engagement activities.
The investment from TD Charitable Foundation will strengthen these supports and help students overcome challenges that often go unaddressed in traditional academic settings.
At TD, we know that access to high-quality education can open doors and contribute to the long-term well-being of individuals, families and communities. That’s why we are proud to support organizations like CIS, which provide students with the tools and support they need to succeed in school today while preparing them for future achievements ahead.
-Paige Carlson-Heim, Head of U.S. Social Impact, TD Bank and Director, TD Charitable Foundation
The selected schools include: Fountain Hill, Mosser and Freemansburg Elementary Schools in Pennsylvania, along with Mary C. Williams, Alderman, Snipes, Freeman, Wrightsboro, College Park and Forest Hills Elementary Schools in North Carolina. The partnership supports a shared vision to build a stronger future by equipping students with the tools and stability they need from an early age.
