Communities In Schools Announces the All In Relief Fund to Support Affiliates Impacted by Hurricane Florence

Sept. 17, 2018

Communities In Schools (CIS), the national organization dedicated to empowering at-risk students to stay in school and on a path to a brighter future, today announced the creation of the All In Relief Fund to support CIS affiliates who have suffered losses as a result of Hurricane Florence.

Communities In Schools has affiliates in North and South Carolina that have been impacted by or are still in the path of floods left behind by the storm:

An additional affiliate, CIS of Hampton Roads in Portsmouth, Virginia is also potentially threatened by floodwaters from the storm and will receive assistance from the Relief Fund.

Together, these affiliates of Communities In Schools serve approximately 66,000 students through the work of 202 caring professionals who work inside schools every day providing the supports and resources they need. The All In Relief Fund will provide essential emergency services and long-term support for the affiliates, allowing them to resume work supporting students and their families. CIS employees who have suffered damage to their homes or lost their personal belongings as a result of the storm are also eligible for assistance.

“The full scope of this disaster is still unfolding, but we know our students, families and communities are going to need immediate relief and long-term support,” said Communities In Schools National President and CEO Dale Erquiaga. “The All In Relief Fund is a vital, first step toward generating the additional resources needed to help our students and affiliate staff get back on their feet as quickly as possible. The entire CIS family is all in for our students and staffers in the affected region.”
