Research Brief: Parent Engagement

The importance of parental and family engagement to the academic success of students has been well studied. This research brief helps simplify the complex topic of parent and family engagement by: defining and explaining parent engagement; summarizing the most current research on the relationship between parent engagement and student outcomes; and outlining specific strategies for parent engagement and troubleshooting common challenges. The brief also includes examples from the Communities In Schools (CIS) network highlighting how CIS is working with families to ensure that students are surrounded with a community of support, prepared to succeed in school and achieve in life.
